Gaza Doctor Reports On Daily Trends Of Israeli Injuries At GHF Locations

An American pediatrician who recently volunteered in the Gaza Strip has highlighted concerning patterns of injury among Palestinian aid seekers at sites operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). Dr. Ahmed Yousaf, speaking from Amman, Jordan, after a two-and-a-half-week stint at Al-Aqsa Hospital and al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, stated that Israeli military actions appear to have targeted specific body areas, leading to a disturbing frequency of specific injuries among the victims.
Dr. Yousaf observed a worrisome trend of mass casualty incidents related to targeted shootings occurring almost daily at food distribution points managed by the GHF, which is supported by the United States. He articulated that individuals, particularly boys and young men, often exhibited injuries that followed a consistent pattern based on the day of the week, suggesting a troubling intent behind the attacks.
For instance, he noted that on certain days, such as Mondays, groups of patients arriving at the hospitals had injuries predominantly located in the lower body, while on subsequent days, the focus shifted to upper-body wounds or head injuries. “It felt as if there was a deliberate strategy applied each day,” Dr. Yousaf explained, underlining the indiscriminate nature of the violence endured by these individuals, which primarily affected those attempting to secure food for their families amidst an ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Reports from organizations, including Doctors Without Borders (MSF), describe the GHF’s food distributions as sites of not only humanitarian relief but also tragic violence and suffering. MSF indicated that these episodes have led to severe violations of international law and raised profound ethical questions regarding the treatment of aid seekers in Gaza.
On any given day, reports detailed tragic incidents where multiple aid seekers lost their lives; for instance, at least 19 individuals were reported killed during recent events at GHF locations. Cumulatively, official sources reveal that over 1,800 Palestinians have perished while seeking aid since GHF operations commenced.
Throughout his experience, Dr. Yousaf characterized the environment in Gaza as a “death trap,” reflecting on the multifaceted challenges faced by aid workers in delivering necessary medical supplies. He recounted how essential items were often confiscated at military checkpoints, limiting the ability of medical personnel to provide adequate care to those in urgent need.
The ongoing humanitarian situation in Gaza underscores the resilience of its people and the critical need for continued international attention and support for their plight, ensuring that humanitarian principles are upheld in all circumstances. #MiddleEastNews #CultureNews
