Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect Rex Heuermann expected to enter a guilty plea according to multiple reports.
On April 8, 2024, Rex Heuermann, the 62-year-old suspect in a series of killings linked to the infamous Gilgo Beach case, is anticipated to enter a guilty plea, according to sources familiar with the situation. This significant court appearance comes in the wake of Heuermann’s arrest on July 13, 2023, in Midtown Manhattan, where he has consistently maintained his innocence regarding the charges of murdering three women: Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello.
Over the course of the investigation, Heuermann has been charged with the deaths of seven women, a tragic series of incidents that shocked the Long Island community. In January 2024, he was additionally charged with the murder of Maureen Brainard-Barnes. Furthermore, as the investigation unfolded, he faced additional charges for three more homicides linked to the case: the 2003 murder of Jessica Taylor, the 1993 slaying of Sandra Costilla, and the death of Valerie Mack, whose remains were found in gruesome condition. Mack was reportedly killed, dismembered, and mutilated between September 1 and November 19, 2000. Her body was discovered in a black plastic bag, bound with rope and duct tape. Court documents indicate that both of Mack’s hands had been severed, and one of her legs was also missing.
