Gunshots fired near Rihanna’s Los Angeles home; one woman taken into custody.
In a troubling incident in Los Angeles, police apprehended a woman following gunfire near the residence of Grammy Award-winning artist Rihanna. According to reports from law enforcement, the shooting occurred on Sunday afternoon in the Beverly Hills neighborhood, although it remains unclear if Rihanna was present at her home during the incident.
Authorities responded to calls about shots being fired in the vicinity. Officer Charles Miller confirmed that a 35-year-old woman was taken into custody without further complications. Police recovered a firearm at the scene. The suspect is currently being held on suspicion of attempted murder with bail set at an unusually high million. As of now, formal charges from the district attorney’s office have not been announced.
While Miller did not disclose specific ownership information for the property, multiple local news outlets have indicated that it is, in fact, tied to Rihanna. Public records reveal that the Beverly Hills home is owned by a trust managed by Evan Jehle, who serves on the advisory board of Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.
Evidence from the scene included video footage showcasing five bullet holes in the front gate of the residence, as reported by KABC-TV. Alarmingly, police dispatch audio indicated that ten gunshots had been fired from a vehicle across the street.
At this point, authorities are still trying to ascertain whether the woman in custody has any relationship with the artist. The shooting incident has heightened concerns over celebrity safety, particularly given Rihanna’s previous brush with an attempted break-in in 2018. During that incident, a man was accused of unlawfully entering another of the singer’s properties in the Hollywood Hills and remained there for approximately 12 hours. He ultimately pleaded no contest to felony charges of stalking, vandalism, and a misdemeanor for resisting arrest, resulting in probation in 2019.
Celebrated for her musical achievements, Rihanna has secured nine Grammy Awards and boasts fourteen No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including iconic songs such as “Umbrella” and “We Found Love.” In addition to her music career, she founded the successful makeup brand Fenty Beauty in 2017. Recently, she and partner A$AP Rocky welcomed their third child, a daughter named Rocki Irish Mayers.
The community is left to grapple with the implications of this unsettling incident, while Rihanna’s representatives have yet to provide public comment.
