Hamas has reportedly expressed openness to a ceasefire proposal from the United States regarding the ongoing situation in Gaza, as indicated by sources from ZezapTV. However, an American official dismissed this claim, characterizing the proposed terms as “unacceptable” and “disappointing.” These conflicting narratives come amid intensified Israeli military action in Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis faced by the Palestinian population.

Reports detail that Israeli forces continue their extensive bombardment of Gaza, contributing to severe restrictions on humanitarian aid entering the region. Tragically, medical professionals have confirmed that at least 81 individuals, including numerous children, lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes on a single day.

According to ZezapTV sources, a meeting in Doha involving Hamas and U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff proposed a draft deal that encompasses a 60-day ceasefire and the staged release of ten captives held in Gaza. The agreement would reportedly see U.S. President Donald Trump oversee the enforcement of the terms, alongside the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the enclave, while allowing humanitarian supplies to enter without conditions from the outset.

Witkoff, however, countered the notion that Hamas had accepted this framework for a ceasefire, asserting that the proposals he encountered were wholly “unacceptable.” A close U.S. associate also deemed Hamas’s claims as “inaccurate” and labeled the group’s stance as “disappointing.”

In the current context, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reaffirmed his commitment to securing the release of the 58 Israeli captives in Gaza. He expressed determination in pursuing their safe return, committing to do so regardless of time frames.

While Netanyahu has consistently rebuffed Hamas’s calls for a comprehensive ceasefire, he has articulated additional “red lines” that he believes must be met to conclude the conflict. These include the complete return of captives and a significant reduction of Hamas’s military capabilities. Despite this, Hamas remains open to exchanging all captured individuals for a permanent ceasefire and has proposed the transition of governance in Gaza to an interim authority, in alignment with an Arab League-supported reconstruction initiative.
