Lincoln University mass shooting suspected to involve multiple gunmen.

Police in Pennsylvania are actively investigating a mass shooting that occurred at Lincoln University during homecoming weekend, which resulted in one fatality and six injuries. The incident took place on Saturday night, approximately 40 miles west of Philadelphia, as authorities confirmed the ongoing search for multiple shooters involved in the gunfire.

The victim of the shooting has been identified as Jujuan Jeffers, a 25-year-old resident of Wilmington, Delaware. The Chester County District Attorney’s office released this information, noting that the six individuals injured in the incident include one current student of Lincoln University and one alumnus, alongside four others not affiliated with the institution. The ages of the victims range from 20 to 25, and all are expected to recover from their injuries.

In connection with the shooting, police have arrested a 21-year-old individual named Zecqueous Morgan-Thompson, also from Wilmington. He faces charges for carrying a firearm without the proper permit. Investigators are currently conducting tests on the weapon used in the shooting to determine whether it was responsible for the fatal incident, according to statements from the district attorney’s office.

Despite the seriousness of the situation, investigators are suggesting that the historically Black university was not specifically targeted for a mass casualty event. Initial assessments indicate that the gunfire may have stemmed from a dispute during the homecoming celebrations, rather than an orchestrated attack on the campus. Chester County District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe emphasized in a recent press conference the distinction between a planned assault and a spontaneous confrontation that escalated to violence.

Founded in 1854 as Ashmun Institute and later renamed after President Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln University holds the distinction of being the first degree-granting historically Black university in the United States. The institution continues to foster a diverse educational environment while addressing the safety concerns that arise from such tragic events.

As investigators continue their search for additional suspects, the community and university officials remain vigilant in promoting safety and ensuring justice for the victims of this tragic incident.
