Long Island man arrested for drunk driving while holding his 5-month-old baby.
A 25-year-old man from Long Island is facing serious legal repercussions after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence while holding a five-month-old infant in Roosevelt. The suspect, identified as Luis Monge Saldivar, was detained by Nassau County police at approximately 9:43 PM on Saturday evening. Authorities reported that Saldivar’s 2004 Chevrolet was observed erratically swerving in and out of its lane before law enforcement intervened. Upon being approached by officers, the suspect surrendered without incident, and the infant was subsequently placed in the care of a responsible family member.
Saldivar’s actions are said to be in violation of Leandra’s Law, a New York state legislation named after 11-year-old Leandra Rosado, who tragically lost her life in 2009 due to a drunk-driving incident involving one of her mother’s intoxicated acquaintances.
