Long Island Man Charged with Kidnapping an 11-Year-Old Girl from Queens After Meeting on Discord
A 28-year-old man from Bay Shore, New York, has been charged with the kidnapping of an 11-year-old girl from Queens, as reported by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Nicholas Wieber is alleged to have engaged in inappropriate conversations with the girl over the messaging platform Discord, a service popular among children and teenagers for its group chat and gaming functionalities.
According to prosecutors, Wieber initiated contact with the minor in early December 2025, and their exchanges soon escalated to sexual content. The situation took a concerning turn on December 12 when the girl attended school but failed to return home on her usual bus. Concerned for her safety, her mother reached out to her friends for information, only to discover that an unidentified older male had picked her up.
In light of this troubling development, the girl’s mother promptly reported the situation to the New York City Police Department (NYPD), which launched a search for the missing child. Subsequently, on the evening of December 13, detectives from the NYPD collaborated with the Suffolk County Police Department, tracing the girl’s whereabouts to Wieber’s residence in Bay Shore.
Upon their arrival, Suffolk County officers allegedly found the child in a state of undress within Wieber’s bedroom. Thankfully, the young girl was safely recovered and returned to her family, while Wieber was taken into custody without incident. He has since been indicted on kidnapping charges, as well as additional related offenses.
Wieber faced arraignment before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro on charges including first- and second-degree kidnapping—both of which are classified as felonies—along with the misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child. He is currently being held on a bond set at 0,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 17, and if convicted on the most serious charge, he could face a sentence ranging from 25 years to life in prison.
At present, Wieber’s attorney has not publicly commented on the allegations. This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding online safety for minors and the potential dangers associated with digital communication platforms. The Google News Source continues to monitor developments in this case as authorities maintain their commitment to child safety in the digital age.
