A Long Island man has been indicted on serious charges stemming from an alleged home invasion and sexual assault of a 74-year-old woman in Holbrook, New York. The incident, which has shocked the local community, was reported to have occurred in the early morning hours of October 24, 2023. The individual accused in this case, 29-year-old Jawarren Booker from Ridge, was taken into custody on October 28, just days following the event.

According to authorities, Booker is alleged to have entered the victim’s apartment by way of a window before committing the assault. The Suffolk County Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina categorized the crime as one that profoundly impacts community trust and raises significant concerns about personal safety. Investigators later located Booker in the Bronx following a comprehensive investigation. He was arraigned on the indictment on October 30 and is currently being held without bail, according to legal documents. He is scheduled to return to court on November 19, 2023. If convicted, Booker faces a potential sentence of up to 25 years in prison.
