Making Time ∞ returns to Fort Mifflin featuring over 120 DJs and bands.
Making Time ∞, a prominent music festival in Philadelphia, is poised to return this year for its most ambitious iteration yet. Scheduled to unfold over three days and nights from September 19 to 21 at the historic Fort Mifflin, near Philadelphia International Airport, the event promises to be a significant milestone as it celebrates its fifth anniversary.
Founded by Philadelphia DJ and promoter David Pianka, renowned in the dance music scene as Dave P, Making Time has earned a reputation for being a pioneering DIY festival, attracting a diverse lineup of over 120 DJs and live bands. This year’s festival is designated as MTMXXV, marking the 25th anniversary of Pianka’s roving dance parties.
Attendees can expect a visually stunning experience, enhanced by a collaboration with the innovative lighting design team Klip Collective. The festival has clarified its branding, with the symbol ∞ interpreted as “Making Time Forever” when spoken.
Among the headline acts set to take the stage are Four Tet, a highly regarded British electronic artist; Yousuke Yukimatsu, a prominent Japanese DJ-producer; and Panda Bear, associated with the Philadelphia-based band Animal Collective. Other notable performers include the Georgia-based electronic duo Boy Harsher, Detroit’s Moodymann, and Avalon Emerson, a celebrated producer and songwriter.
The festival will showcase a variety of innovative artists, including Moor Mother, a Philadelphia-based experimental poet and activist, and Mary Lattimore, a harpist who has transitioned from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. Lattimore will perform a solo set as well as collaborate with Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra and his band Ghost Horizons. Other notable acts include sound design pioneer Suzanne Ciani and an experimental duo featuring Brooklyn-Philadelphia composers Rachika Nayar and Nina Keith.
This year’s emphasis on live music will see performances by various ensembles, including Philadelphia’s shoegaze trio Full Body 2 and Irish dream-pop artist Maria Sommerville. Additionally, artists such as Laraaji, Moin, Belgian producer Milan W, and vibraphonist Hudson River will contribute to the festival’s eclectic lineup.
New for this year is the Option 5 area, strategically located in a wooded section of the venue designed to evoke a “transcendental forest rave” atmosphere. Making Time ∞ will coincide with the XPoNential Music Festival, hosted across the Delaware River in Camden, making it a vibrant weekend for music lovers as summer transitions into fall.
In addition to its extensive musical offerings, the festival is known for its culinary diversity, featuring food from renowned local establishments such as Irwin’s, Middle Child, and Cantina La Martina. Although specific vendors have yet to be announced, attendees can expect selections from some of Philadelphia’s most celebrated dining establishments.
Three-day passes for Making Time ∞ are currently available for purchase, with single-day tickets expected to be released as the festival dates approach. For those interested in attending, additional information can be found on the ticketing link provided by Media News Source.
