Malia Obama and Bella Cuomo spotted in the Hamptons during Memorial Day festivities.
As Memorial Day Weekend unfolded, the Hamptons exhibited its vibrant allure, brilliantly juxtaposed against the backdrop of heavy traffic on Route 27 East and unpredictable beach weather. Coopers Beach in Southampton stood out, recently honored as the Number 1 Beach in America by Dr. Beach, adding to the local allure.
In Southampton Village, a chic atmosphere prevailed during a cover party for Mann About Town at Marina St Barth. The event celebrated actress and author Leesa Rowland, attracting notable figures such as skincare mogul Peter Thomas Roth, philanthropist Jean Shafiroff, and Vicky Schneps, the influential figure behind Dan’s Papers.
On Monday, the energy continued as Cristina Cuomo and Purist Magazine organized a Sip n Shop at the trendy Johnny Was boutique, serving as a fundraiser for the Southampton Arts Center. Highlighting the event was Bella Cuomo, daughter of Cristina and Chris Cuomo, who celebrated her graduation from Cornell University just one day prior. Bella captivated attendees with her original musical compositions and guitar performance. Purist Magazine also plays a pivotal role in supporting the Arts Center’s upcoming gala, themed “Whimsy Motown Magic,” scheduled for June 28.
In East Hampton, a surprise encounter awaited customers at CardVault where Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, was found assisting Tom Brady behind the register. Patrons eagerly sought signed helmets from the seven-time Super Bowl champion and other collectibles, under the watchful eyes of Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin and local dignitaries, including East Hampton Village Mayor Jerry Larsen.
Social dynamics were alive at Swifty’s, located in the newly acquired Hedges Inn, where prominent figures such as Don Lemon, entertainment executive Jason Weinberg, and former First Daughter Malia Obama were spotted mingling. The youthful Obama was later seen enjoying a casual evening playing darts at Murf’s, a local dive bar in Sag Harbor.
The weekend also marked the Season Kick-off at The Southampton Playhouse, an event attended by influential figures Aby Rosen and Leon Black. The evening highlighted the efforts of their sons, Alex Black and Charlie Rosen, who made opening remarks before a special showing of JAWS, celebrating its 50th anniversary with a conversion to IMAX.
Later, Alex Black hosted friends at his newly acquired estate on Halsey Neck Lane, a historic location once owned by music industry legends Mica and Ahmet Ertegun. Upcoming projects, including a film featuring Hugh Jackman titled “The Death of Robin Hood,” indicate a summer filled with notable events at the Playhouse.
Meanwhile, Arthur & Sons, a popular dining venue in the area, kicked off its second season with a notable appearance by late-night television host Jimmy Fallon and his wife, Nancy Juvonen. The couple enjoyed a romantic evening featuring signature dishes, enhancing the celebratory ambiance of the holiday weekend. Lorraine Bracco also opted for a quieter dining experience, embodying the diverse appeal of the Hamptons during this bustling season.
As the Hamptons continue to thrive as a sought-after destination, the energy and events of Memorial Day Weekend solidified its status as a cultural and social hub, drawing crowds and celebrities alike in search of leisure and luxury.
