Man arrested for allegedly impersonating police and zip-tying woman during robbery in Mayfair.
A recent incident in Philadelphia’s Mayfair neighborhood has led to the arrest of a 54-year-old man accused of impersonating law enforcement and committing robbery. Media News Source reports that the suspect, identified as Robert Rosado, resides on the 6800 block of Bingham Street in Lawndale. He faces multiple charges including impersonation of a law enforcement officer, robbery, firearms violations, and theft by deception.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, the alleged crime occurred on June 8 at approximately 2:10 p.m. Rosado entered a business located on the 6400 block of Harbison Avenue wearing a black tactical vest emblazoned with the words “Security Enforcement Agent.” He reportedly zip-tied a 50-year-old woman, the victim of the incident, during the altercation. Following the restraint of the victim, the man stole an estimated ,000 in cash from the establishment.
After the robbery, Rosado fled the scene and headed north on Harbison Avenue. Witnesses described the getaway vehicle as a distinctive white Ford E-250 van, which aided police in their pursuit of the suspect. The police have indicated that Rosado allegedly shouted “immigration” during the incident and falsely claimed to be an officer with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The swift actions taken by law enforcement have underscored a commitment to addressing such brazen crimes in the community. Authorities urge anyone with additional information regarding the incident or similar occurrences to come forward to assist in ongoing investigations.
The implications of impersonating a police officer are serious, not only for the perpetrator but also for public trust in law enforcement. As the case unfolds, many in the community remain vigilant and concerned about the safety and security of local businesses and residents.
Rosado is currently in custody, and additional proceedings are anticipated as prosecutors prepare to bring the case before the court. The police continue to investigate any potential accomplices and encourage citizens to remain alert to prevent similar crimes in the future.
