Man arrested for murder inside elaborate home built within Philadelphia bridge.
A 61-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Joshua Daywalt, whose body was discovered in the Schuylkill River earlier this year. The suspect, identified as Roger Rosson, was found living within the Green Lane Bridge in Philadelphia’s Manayunk section during a police response to reports regarding an individual residing in the structure.
When officers arrived at the bridge on Tuesday, they uncovered a makeshift living arrangement consisting of various levels, an electrical hookup to a battery, and a fully furnished tent. This discovery highlighted Rosson’s resourcefulness and adaptability to his circumstances, as he is believed to be homeless. During a search of the area, authorities also located a firearm, although the specifics regarding the weapon have not been disclosed.
Rosson has been connected to the death of 35-year-old Daywalt, whose body was recovered from the Schuylkill River near East Falls on February 7. Upon examination, the medical examiner determined that Daywalt had died from a gunshot wound behind his right ear, in addition to a graze wound to the lower rear of his head. The official ruling classified his death as a homicide.
Prior to the arrest, police had indicated that Daywalt was reportedly last seen alive under the Green Lane Bridge, where Rosson had been residing. This information has highlighted a concerning intersection of homelessness and violent crime in the region. Although further details surrounding Rosson’s arrest remain sparse, the case raises significant questions about the social dynamics and challenges faced by individuals living in unstable conditions.
Friends of Rosson have reported that he has experienced substantial difficulties in recent years. A local acquaintance noted that Rosson had lost his contracting business, which has contributed to his current living situation. As the investigation progresses, the community and law enforcement agencies are left to grapple with the implications of this tragic event.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as they continue to gather evidence related to the case. The investigation into both the circumstances surrounding Daywalt’s death and Rosson’s living conditions is ongoing, highlighting the complex social issues at play in urban environments.
