Man arrested for raping and robbing 36-year-old woman in the Bronx amid rising incidents of sexual assaults.

A 21-year-old man was taken into custody on multiple charges Monday, including rape and robbery, following an alleged sexual assault against a 36-year-old woman in the Bronx. This incident highlights a troubling trend of increasing sexual assaults in the area, as noted by local law enforcement.

The suspect, Kenneth Siriboe, was apprehended after police received a tip from a community member who recognized him from surveillance images. He was found in a Bronx apartment building, where officers executed a search warrant. Siriboe reportedly approached the victim around 5 a.m. on Sunday near East Gun Hill Road and Putnam Place in the Norwood neighborhood. According to police reports, he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and assaulted her before stealing cash and fleeing on foot.

The victim was subsequently transported to North Central Bronx Hospital, where she is currently in stable condition. Siriboe, a New Jersey resident with no prior arrests, was dressed in dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Siriboe faces an extensive list of charges, including rape, robbery, strangulation, burglary, criminal obstruction of breathing, criminal trespass, assault, and sexual abuse. As of Monday evening, his arraignment is pending in Bronx Criminal Court.

This arrest follows a recent spike in sexual assaults in the Bronx, with police also taking another suspect, Zion Exum, into custody on similar charges. Exum, 26, allegedly raped a 25-year-old woman in the Bronx on September 13. He was charged with rape and is being held on a cash bail of 0,000 or a 0,000 partially secured bond. Reports indicate that Exum approached the victim around 4:05 a.m. near East 212th Street and Paulding Avenue in Williamsbridge, where he attacked her.

In a separate incident, Xavier Chapman, 30, was arrested for the rape of a 19-year-old woman sitting on a park bench on September 17. He faces charges of rape, sexual abuse, and harassment.

The increase in sexual assault incidents in the Bronx is particularly concerning. In 2025, reported rapes have surged by 32.6%, with 407 incidents recorded as compared to 307 in 2024, according to NYPD crime statistics. Law enforcement agencies are emphasizing the need for community awareness and vigilance in response to these alarming trends.

Media News Source reports that the recent spate of violent crimes has left many residents feeling uneasy, prompting ongoing discussions about safety measures and potential preventive strategies in the community.
