Man arrested in Brooklyn hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a Lyft driver.

A 22-year-old man, identified as Sobirjon Abdurazakov, has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash in Brooklyn that claimed the life of a Lyft driver and left another individual seriously injured. The incident occurred early on October 5, 2023, and has since raised significant concerns regarding reckless driving in urban areas.

Abdurazakov now faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, assault, and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He is also charged with reckless endangerment and a violation for speeding. The collision involved Abdurazakov driving a 2026 Audi A5, which he operated at an excessive speed along Ocean Parkway. According to police reports, he rear-ended a 2023 Toyota Camry, driven by 62-year-old Yaya Dia, near Avenue S around 12:10 a.m. on that fateful morning.

The impact of the collision caused Dia’s vehicle to spin out of control, subsequently crashing into a southbound 2021 Toyota RAV4. Both the Camry and the Audi were propelled off the roadway, ultimately colliding with a tree. Emergency response units arrived on the scene promptly, and Dia was transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

In addition to Dia’s tragic death, a 39-year-old woman who was a rear-seat passenger in the Camry sustained significant injuries, including severe neck and back trauma, and was also taken to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition. The driver of the RAV4, a 25-year-old man, was treated at the scene for minor injuries, displaying the varied impacts of the high-speed collision.

Following the crash, Abdurazakov attempted to flee the scene, reportedly taking his vehicle’s license plates with him and leaving the wreckage behind. This act of abandoning the scene has compounded the severity of the charges he now faces. Prior to this incident, Abdurazakov had no criminal record. He is currently awaiting arraignment in Brooklyn Criminal Court as the community grapples with the ramifications of this tragic event.

As investigations continue, authorities are urging drivers to exercise caution and adhere to speed limits, emphasizing the devastating consequences of reckless driving in densely populated areas. Media News Source remains committed to providing updates on this developing story.
