An individual from upstate New York was apprehended in Brooklyn on Saturday following alarming statements made at a gas station regarding intentions to target Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. The suspect, identified as David Cox, 54, hailing from Newark Valley, New York, reportedly stopped at a gas station in Oswego, approximately 100 miles from his home, around 9:20 PM on Friday. During this visit, he allegedly disclosed to an employee his plan to travel to New York City for the No Kings march, during which he intended to carry out an act of violence against ICE agents.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that Cox was located in Borough Park, Brooklyn, at approximately 2:25 PM on Saturday, following alerts from an automated license plate reader. Fortunately, no weapons or explosives were discovered in his vehicle at the time of his arrest. Authorities have not specified the reason for his presence in Borough Park.
The No Kings march, which coincided with Cox’s arrest, was marked by a significant gathering of approximately 100,000 demonstrators in Midtown Manhattan. This protest opposed the policies of former President Donald Trump and his administration.
