Man shot dead with assault rifle near Bruce B. Downs; details of the incident are now available.

Terrance Barnett Robinson Jr., a 34-year-old resident of Ocala, faces a first-degree murder charge following a shooting incident in New Tampa last summer that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Kyle John Prisco. Initially, Robinson was charged as an accessory to the murder but has since been implicated in more serious charges as evidence in the ongoing investigation emerged, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred on June 17, 2023, when deputies received multiple emergency calls reporting a shooting incident. Upon arrival at the scene, located near Regents Park Drive and the 19000 block of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, law enforcement found Prisco deceased inside a white Mercedes Benz CLA. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, specifically to the upper body and head.

Investigators indicated that Robinson was present during the crime, which involved another individual, 25-year-old Forest Isaiah Jackson, who allegedly fired the shots that killed Prisco. After the shooting, both Robinson and Jackson fled the scene. Evidence collected through witness interviews and surveillance footage revealed that Robinson had accessed an ATM at a nearby Chase Bank shortly before the incident and was seen entering the passenger side of Jackson’s Chevrolet Camaro.

In an effort to piece together the events, police recorded that a minute after Robinson withdrawn 0 from the ATM, Prisco parked his vehicle nearby. Following a brief encounter with the suspects, Prisco was forced out of his car at gunpoint by Jackson, who exited the Camaro wielding an assault rifle-style firearm. Witness accounts and video footage depict Jackson shooting Prisco multiple times as he attempted to escape before returning to the Camaro. Additional evidence supports that Robinson was driving the Camaro during their flight from the scene.

Robinson was initially arrested in Ohio on July 3, 2023, for the accessory charge and later booked into the Hillsborough County jail on July 23, where he was released four days later after posting bail set at 0,000. His recent arrest on Thursday in Marion County includes charges of murder and robbery. He is currently awaiting transfer to Hillsborough County for further legal proceedings.

Jackson has also been apprehended and faces similar charges; he has pleaded not guilty. The case continues to unfold as the sheriff’s office continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Prisco’s death. The involvement of illegal drug activities, including Prisco’s purported connections to marijuana distribution, has been suggested as a possible motivation behind the violent confrontation.

The investigation remains a primary focus for law enforcement agencies, as they work to provide clarity in this distressing case. Further updates are expected as more information is made available to the public.
