Man steals valet keys and million worth of luxury cars from Florida hotel, according to police.
A recent incident in Fort Lauderdale has drawn significant attention after a man was recorded on surveillance cameras stealing luxury vehicles from a prominent hotel. Gregory Sean Yearty Jr., a 24-year-old resident of Fort Lauderdale, was apprehended by Miami Beach police in connection with the theft of four high-end cars, collectively valued at nearly million. The vehicles included a Lamborghini Urus and a Rolls-Royce Ghost, highlighting the high-stakes nature of the crime.
The theft occurred in the early hours of July 6, 2024, when Yearty allegedly crawled into the valet key room of the Setai Hotel, located at 2001 Collins Avenue. Surveillance footage captured him entering the secured area around 2 a.m., where he discreetly collected multiple key fobs before making his escape. The footage indicated that Yearty employed a tactical approach, attempting to minimize detection by staying low to the ground.
Police reports reveal that Yearty initially drove off with two of the stolen vehicles, accompanied by two unidentified accomplices. The group returned to the hotel shortly before 6 a.m. to steal two additional cars, with a rented black Cadillac Escalade appearing in surveillance images as it followed the group during the heists.
The investigations into the multiple reports of missing vehicles from hotel guests led authorities to utilize a combination of video evidence, rental car databases, and cell phone tracking technology to identify Yearty as the primary suspect in the case. Following this, he voluntarily surrendered at the Miami Beach Police Headquarters.
Yearty is currently facing four counts of grand theft and burglary of an occupied structure. As of Wednesday morning, he remains in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, although there has been no confirmation regarding whether he has secured legal representation.
Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones emphasized the department’s commitment to holding accountable those who target the community, asserting that local authorities will not tolerate such criminal activities.
