Latin music icons, including Marc Anthony, Luis Fonsi, Chayanne, Feid, and Jay Wheeler, are set to headline an international benefit concert livestreamed from Miami on August 16. This concert, titled “Unidos por Los Nuestros” (United for Our Own), aims to raise funds for individuals affected by catastrophic earthquakes in Venezuela and Colombia. The initiative is expected to bring together various artists from across Latin America, showcasing a diverse array of musical genres.
The benefit concert is organized to address both immediate and long-term recovery efforts following the seismic events in these two nations. The earthquakes in Venezuela, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, occurred just 39 seconds apart on June 24, resulting in significant loss of life, with official reports indicating at least 6,300 fatalities. The initial focus was to assist those affected in Venezuela, but the scope expanded following a devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake in western Colombia on August 14, which claimed the lives of at least 181 individuals and left over 2,500 injured.
The funds raised from online donations and ticket sales will support a range of initiatives including housing reconstruction, school repairs, mental health services, and community support. Prominent nonprofit organizations such as All Hands and Hearts, CARE, Global Empowerment Mission, Techo, and World Central Kitchen are poised to receive these contributions. Marc Anthony, a celebrated Grammy Award winner, highlighted the collective responsibility to aid those enduring hardships and emphasized the vital role of his Maestro Cares Foundation in coordinating the distribution of the funds.
As the humanitarian crisis continues in Venezuela, the need for support remains urgent. Tens of thousands are displaced and require access to basic necessities like housing, clean water, sanitation, and medical assistance. The benefit concert will take place at 6 p.m. ET at Miami’s Kaseya Center.
