Mighty Ducks actor provides assistance to homeless Nickelodeon star Tylor Chase.
A recently circulated video featuring Tylor Chase, known for his role on Nickelodeon’s “Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide,” has sparked significant public interest, particularly from fellow actor Shaun Weiss, recognized for his performance in the “Mighty Ducks” series. The video depicts the 36-year-old Chase experiencing homelessness in Southern California, engaging with a fan who acknowledges his past work. The clip, shared on TikTok, was released over the weekend and has since drawn attention to the difficult circumstances faced by the former child actor.
In response to the outpouring of concern regarding Chase’s situation, Shaun Weiss announced via Instagram Reels that he is working to provide assistance. Weiss, who has faced his own struggles with addiction and homelessness, expressed his desire to help Chase by locating him and facilitating access to long-term treatment. He mentioned that a position at a detox center has been secured, thanks to the efforts of his friend Mike Jordan from 11:11 Recovery. Weiss emphasized the urgency of locating Chase, adding that multiple messages have prompted his outreach for help.
Riverside Police, who have had prior interactions with Chase, reported that he often declines offers of treatment and temporary shelter. Despite the challenges he faces, police noted that Chase remains cooperative and respectful during their encounters. Additionally, the police department brought his situation to Chase’s attention by informing him about the viral video, which he reportedly does not mind.
Devon Werkheiser, the lead actor from “Ned’s Declassified,” reflected on his former co-star’s plight, stating that it is disheartening to witness Chase in such difficult circumstances. Although he has not seen Chase in nearly two decades, Werkheiser described him as “sensitive, sweet, and kind,” acknowledging the complexities of addiction and mental health challenges. He noted that those struggling with such issues often find it difficult to accept help, even when it is available.
As the public continues to express concern for Chase, the situation serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles faced by former child actors and the importance of providing support for mental health and substance abuse challenges. The ongoing efforts from Weiss and others in the community highlight a commitment to helping those in need, particularly in a season traditionally associated with compassion and giving.
