Mingus Reedus, son of Norman Reedus, appears virtually in court for assault case.
On Tuesday morning, Mingus Reedus, the 25-year-old son of actor Norman Reedus, known for his role in the popular television series “The Walking Dead,” appeared virtually at Manhattan Criminal Court as part of an ongoing assault case. He faces charges related to a violent incident involving a 33-year-old woman in Chelsea.
Reedus has been charged with assault and criminal obstruction of breathing. During the court proceedings, he discussed with Judge Michelle Weber the terms of a full order of protection issued at his arraignment. This order restricts him from contacting the alleged victim. According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, the discussions were focused on extending the existing order of protection.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred early on a Saturday morning when law enforcement officers answered a 911 call reporting an assault. Upon arrival at the intersection of W. 16th Street and Eighth Avenue, authorities discovered a woman suffering from minor injuries to her neck and legs. She was promptly transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment and was reported to be in stable condition.
The complaint against Reedus alleges that he “recklessly” injured the woman, specifically accusing him of applying pressure to her throat and neck with the intent to impede normal breathing and circulation. Furthermore, it was reported that he had struck, shoved, and kicked her, all actions purportedly undertaken with the intention to harass, annoy, and alarm the victim.
Witnesses to the incident reportedly observed Reedus using both of his hands to apply forceful pressure to the victim’s neck and striking her right leg with a closed fist. The account includes claims that he threw her to the ground, resulting in visible bruising, redness, and substantial pain to her right leg.
Following his arraignment, Reedus was released on his own recognizance but is required to attend subsequent court appearances. His next scheduled court date is set for October 8.
As this case unfolds, it raises critical discussions about personal conduct, accountability, and the implications of violence in interpersonal relationships. Media News Source will continue to follow the developments in this case as it progresses through the judicial system.
