Missing 9-year-old girl in Pennsylvania found dead; adoptive mother taken into custody.

Authorities in Pennsylvania are mourning the tragic discovery of a 9-year-old girl with learning disabilities, Renesmay Eutsey, whose body was found on Thursday, prompting the arrest of her adoptive mother on multiple charges connected to the child’s death.

The girl was reported missing around noon on Wednesday by her foster mother, 31-year-old Kourtney Eutsey, and her partner, Sarah Shipley. They claimed that Renesmay left their residence located on 3rd Street in Dunbar Borough in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to reports, Renesmay’s body was located partially submerged in the Youghiogheny River near Smithton at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, nearly 14 hours after authorities were notified of her disappearance.

Witness statements and subsequent investigations have raised serious concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding Renesmay’s last hours. After conducting interviews with other children living in the same household, law enforcement discovered conflicting accounts that contradicted the narrative presented by Eutsey and Shipley. Reports indicated that one child overheard the couple discussing plans to take Renesmay to a river “far far away,” while other children reported hearing her “screaming and crying” the night she disappeared.

Eutsey was captured on surveillance footage, which further undermined her account of the events. During questioning, she confessed to killing the girl, explaining that Renesmay had suffered a severe burn on her back while in the bathtub the previous week, the neglect of which led to the injury becoming infected. According to Eutsey, the child choked and vomited on Tuesday, ultimately resulting in her death. Fearing the implications of Renesmay’s condition and appearance, Eutsey admitted to disposing of the body in the river.

As a result of these revelations, Eutsey faces a series of charges, including homicide, child endangerment, abuse of a corpse, evidence tampering, and concealing the death of a child. During her arraignment, held by District Judge Jason Cox, she was placed in the Fayette County Jail, where she remains without bond.

As of now, Sarah Shipley has not been formally charged; however, investigations into her involvement are ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence in this disturbing case. Media News Source will provide updates as the situation develops.
