Motorcycle Rider and Passenger Die in Collision with SUV in Brooklyn

Two individuals tragically lost their lives in a motorcycle accident involving an SUV in Brooklyn, New York, as reported by local authorities. The incident occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Monday, on the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Elton Street in the Cypress Hills neighborhood.

According to police reports, the deceased, identified as 42-year-old Reinaldo Rodriguez and his passenger, Mirella Vega, who also shared the same age, were traveling westbound on Atlantic Avenue on a 2025 Harley Davidson motorcycle. At the same time, a 66-year-old male driver was operating a 2021 Mercedes-Benz SUV, heading east on Atlantic Avenue. The SUV driver attempted to make a left turn onto Elton Street when the collision occurred. Rodriguez collided with the rear passenger side of the SUV, leading to a violent crash that resulted in both riders being ejected from their motorcycle.

Emergency medical services quickly arrived at the scene, but Rodriguez was pronounced dead on location. Vega was transported to Brookdale University Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival. Both victims were lifelong residents of Brooklyn; Rodriguez lived just a few blocks from the location of the accident in East New York, while Vega resided in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene following the incident and was later treated at Brookdale University Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. He was reported to be in stable condition. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the collision.
