Tickets for this celebration are priced at and will go on sale starting Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. A portion of the proceeds from the concert will benefit MANNA, the Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance, reflecting Robert’s longstanding commitment to community well-being.
Chuck Damico, WMMR’s program director, expressed the sentiment behind the event, emphasizing the desire to celebrate Robert’s life in a way he would have appreciated. Pierre Robert was a cornerstone of Philadelphia’s radio scene, sharing his passion for classic rock and connecting deeply with listeners over his 44-year career. His unexpected death at the age of 70, discovered in his Gladwyne home on October 29, has left a notable void in both the radio community and the broader music world. The cause of his death remains undisclosed, although WMMR’s parent company, Beasley Media Group, has indicated that foul play is not suspected.
Robert’s legacy is further reflected in the overwhelming response from fans and fellow musicians, who gathered in Rittenhouse Square shortly after his passing. This public show of support highlighted his status as a cherished figure, with many attesting to his positive impact on the local music scene.
As Thanksgiving approaches, WMMR will honor Robert’s tradition of hosting an annual Turkey Day radio show. The event will be led by Ryan Shuttleworth, featuring memories shared by his former producers, ensuring that Robert’s spirit continues to resonate with audiences during the holiday.
The upcoming concert is poised to be a heartfelt celebration, showcasing not only Robert’s lasting contributions to radio and music but also the profound affection and respect he garnered throughout his life.
