New Estates appoints general manager with extensive leadership experience in new role.

Carl Weise has recently assumed the role of general manager for the San Diego Country Estates Association, bringing a wealth of leadership experience from both community associations and large-scale hotel and resort operations. Having relocated to Ramona shortly before his appointment in February, Weise is poised to enhance the association’s services and community engagement.

Prior to his tenure at the San Diego Country Estates, Weise served as the general manager of the PGA WEST Master Association in La Quinta. His extensive background includes leadership roles at notable locations, such as the Four Seasons resort community at Terra Lago in Indio and La Costa Oaks in North County. Withover 16 years of experience in managing community homeowners associations and a strong foundation in the hospitality sector focused on full-service properties, Weise aims to implement successful operational strategies at his new position.

The San Diego Country Estates Association expressed confidence in Weise’s capabilities, noting his history of driving operational excellence, improving financial performance, fostering community engagement, and building effective teams. He takes over from Darren Shaw, who held the position since September 2021 and has since transitioned to the role of chief operating officer of the SaddleBrooke TWO master-planned retirement community in Tucson, Arizona.

Weise considers the opportunity at the Estates Association to be an ideal match for his professional skills, expressing enthusiasm for the diverse offerings of the San Diego County area. His qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in economics, management, and accounting, which aligns well with the responsibilities he will undertake in overseeing the association’s residential and recreational operations, which encompass more than 160 employees. His role involves managing a golf course, restaurants, event venues, equestrian centers, parks, and various recreational programs.

In addition to budget oversight and capital project planning, Weise has set clear priorities to enhance community experiences and increase the association’s positive influence on the broader Ramona area. He is dedicated to supporting local events and businesses, fostering strong relationships within the community.

Weise has already introduced several initiatives aimed at improving communication and community connection. His weekly updates in the association’s Valley News provide transparency regarding key operational matters, while the new “Coffee with Carl” program encourages residents to engage in informal discussions and contribute their input.

With certifications as a Community Association Manager and Association Management Executive, Weise also contributes to shaping industry standards by serving on the board of the California Association of Community Managers. Outside of his professional obligations, he enjoys cooking, participating in chili competitions, traveling, and fly fishing. Weise’s appreciation for Ramona’s unique rural charm and picturesque landscapes underscores his commitment to both his role and the community he serves.
