New Jersey teacher, 45, charged with sexting her 13-year-old former student.

A New Jersey teacher, identified as 45-year-old Lorri Ann Willis from Hackettstown, has been arrested and charged with engaging in inappropriate communication with a 13-year-old former student. The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office announced the charges, which stem from allegations that Willis sent sexually suggestive text messages to the student over a period from June 2024 to October 2025.

The Chester Police Department initiated an investigation earlier this month following a report of alleged misconduct involving an educator employed by Black River Middle School. During the inquiry, the victim disclosed that Willis had sent a photograph of her breasts, which were covered by a bra, and had given the victim gifts, including a ring.

As a result of these allegations, Willis faces two significant criminal charges: one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of luring. Following her arrest, she is currently detained in the Morris County Correctional Facility while awaiting further court proceedings.

In response to the charges, Black River Middle School has taken immediate action by suspending Willis from her position in the science department. The Chester School District superintendent communicated with parents, emphasizing that the district is treating the matter with utmost seriousness. The superintendent also reassured parents that there is currently no evidence suggesting additional risk or threat to other students within the school.

This incident highlights a growing concern regarding the responsibility of educators towards their students and the profound implications of inappropriate relationships between teachers and minors. Schools and communities continue to grapple with ensuring student safety and upholding professional boundaries. As the legal proceedings unfold, further developments are expected, and authorities remain vigilant in monitoring the situation to protect the welfare of all students involved.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical need for robust child protection measures within educational institutions, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students. As investigations continue, the Chester community anticipates a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding this troubling case.
