A Staten Island man was arrested on Friday after allegedly brandishing a real knife and threatening individuals following his exclusion from a Halloween party in New Jersey. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old John Bekhet, faces serious charges, including terroristic threats and unlawful possession of a weapon, stemming from an incident that transpired in Gloucester County in the early hours of Friday morning.
The Glassboro Police Department received a report shortly before 2 a.m. regarding a knife-wielding individual making threats after being denied entry to the party on the 300 block of North Main Street. When law enforcement arrived on the scene, it was noted that Bekhet was dressed in a police officer costume.
Police officers patrolling the area were able to quickly locate Bekhet, who attempted to flee the scene. Following a brief foot chase, he was apprehended and taken into custody. The knife allegedly used in the threatening behavior was subsequently found nearby by officers.
Bekhet has been charged with multiple offenses, including terroristic threats, obstruction, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and violations related to weapons possession. Following his arrest, he was booked into Salem County Jail, where he awaits further legal proceedings.
