The suspect, Sandra Guadalupe-Castro, now 57 years old, faces counts of first-degree and third-degree murder, as announced by the Berks County District Attorney’s Office. On January 8, 1993, law enforcement authorities responded to a residence situated on the 1000 block of Franklin Street in Reading, Pennsylvania. Upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of a 2-year-old boy exhibiting severe head injuries and bruises in various stages of healing. Despite immediate medical attention and transport to a local hospital, the child was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The coroner subsequently ruled the death a homicide.
During the investigation at the time, the toddler was known to reside with his father and Guadalupe-Castro. However, law enforcement faced challenges in identifying any suspects due to insufficient evidence, resulting in the case remaining cold for decades.
