Philadelphia police arrest a man for the kidnapping of 23-year-old Kada Scott, who has been missing for 11 days.

A Philadelphia resident has been charged with kidnapping in connection with the alarming disappearance of 23-year-old Kada Scott, who has been missing for over a week. Authorities have raised concerns for her safety amid the ongoing investigation.

Keon King, a 21-year-old man, was apprehended by police during the night and formally charged with kidnapping. Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore confirmed the arrest, noting that King was the last person reportedly in contact with Scott on the evening of October 4. Investigators revealed that cell phone location data places him traveling with Scott’s phone shortly before her communication line went silent.

The specific nature of King’s relationship with Scott remains unclear at this time. However, the police have indicated that King has a concerning history; earlier this year, he faced charges of kidnapping and strangulation. According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Toczylowski, he allegedly assaulted a woman he had been dating by forcibly removing her from her home and subsequently released her. Despite these serious allegations, prosecutors dropped the charges in May due to the victim’s absence in court. However, in light of Scott’s disappearance, the charges have been refiled, reinforcing the pattern of behavior exhibited by King.

Scott, a resident of the Ivy Hill neighborhood of East Mount Airy, was employed at a nursing home in Chestnut Hill and had shared with friends and family that she was experiencing harassment prior to her disappearance. On October 4, she left the facility after receiving several phone calls but never returned. Investigators later discovered her vehicle abandoned in the parking lot, yet her whereabouts remain unknown.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation, although authorities maintain that they are not presuming Scott to be deceased. Instead, this specialized team is engaged due to the case’s complexity, with Detectives affirming their commitment to locate Scott. Deputy Police Commissioner John Stanford emphasized the critical nature of public assistance in the investigation, stating that they continue to treat the situation with utmost seriousness.

Officials are currently seeking information regarding King, urging anyone who may have encountered him or has been a victim of his possible prior misconduct to step forward. Furthermore, authorities are searching for King’s abandoned vehicle, a gold 1999 Toyota Camry displaying damage to its front left bumper. The vehicle has been reported spotted in multiple areas, including Center City and various neighborhoods in Southwest and Northwest Philadelphia.

Anyone with pertinent information is encouraged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department’s tip line at 215-686-8477 or the homicide unit directly at 215-686-3334. This developing story underscores the urgent need for community engagement as the investigation unfolds.

This ongoing situation serves as a grim reminder of the critical nature of public safety and support in times of crisis.
