Philly airport’s United Club Lounge reopens following health department reinspection.
The United Club Lounge, located at Philadelphia International Airport, has resumed operations following a recent inspection and approval by the city health department. This reopening comes after a temporary closure that took place last week when inspectors identified several health violations, including reports of a fly infestation in the men’s restroom and near the bar area.
The lounge, situated in Terminal C, was issued a cease operations order that mandated it remain closed for a minimum of 48 hours. During this period, the facility was required to correct the cited issues, pay fines, and successfully pass a follow-up inspection. The initial inspection report, dated September 29, highlighted significant concerns, including a previous unsatisfactory assessment conducted in July.
On Monday, a week after the lounge’s closure, health department officials conducted a reinspection. Although minor violations related to equipment were noted, the report indicated a marked improvement, as there were no new findings of pests. Health inspectors confirmed that the closure order was rescinded, allowing the United Club Lounge to reopen.
In terms of customer experience during the week-long shutdown, United Club members were provided with alternative compensation. Travelers who were unable to utilize the lounge’s amenities were offered a voucher for use at the airport.
The United Club Lounge is known for providing complimentary food and beverages, and it typically caters to members and one-day pass holders. Membership fees begin at approximately 0 or require a frequent flyer accumulation of 94,000 miles, while daily access passes are available for around per person.
As the lounge resumes its service, airport officials and United Airlines remain committed to maintaining high health and safety standards to ensure the comfort and satisfaction of their patrons. Further inspections may be scheduled in the future to ensure compliance with health regulations.
The reopening of the lounge is a significant development for frequent travelers passing through Philadelphia International Airport, reflecting the ongoing efforts to provide quality facilities while adhering to health and safety guidelines.
