Police arrest Philadelphia man for shooting four individuals on SEPTA bus in Fairmount Park.
A man from Philadelphia has been taken into custody following an incident during which he allegedly discharged a firearm on a SEPTA bus in Fairmount Park, resulting in injuries to four individuals, including three minors. The suspect, 52-year-old Hakim Ali Bryant, reportedly opened fire on Saturday evening after a confrontation with three teenage boys on a Route 15 bus near the intersection of 33rd Street and Girard Avenue.
According to Police Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore, Bryant is accused of shooting two 16-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy, as well as a 39-year-old woman who was also present during the altercation. Following the shooting, Bryant fled the scene. However, authorities have confirmed that he was apprehended shortly thereafter.
Bryant has been charged with multiple offenses that include attempted murder and aggravated assault, among other related crimes. His residential address is recorded as being on the 7600 block of Overbrook Avenue.
The injuries sustained by the victims were as follows: one 16-year-old boy was shot in the right foot, while another 16-year-old sustained a graze wound on his back. The 14-year-old boy was shot in his left hand. All three minors were transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where they are currently listed in stable condition. The 39-year-old woman, who experienced a graze wound to her left shoulder, declined hospitalization but was treated on-site by emergency responders.
