Police identify suspect in 2024 murder case and believe she is currently hiding in Queens.

Suffolk County Police announced this week that they are actively seeking Majorie Quarrie, a 50-year-old woman suspected of the fatal stabbing of 36-year-old Conrad Gowan in a residence located in Jamesport on March 4, 2024. An arrest warrant has been issued for Quarrie, charging her with second-degree murder.

Quarrie, whose birth name is Nicola Watson, is noted for frequently changing her appearance and has previously been arrested under the name Majorie Quarrie. According to police records, she has been involved with law enforcement on at least two occasions prior to the murder investigation.

Investigators revealed that on the day of the incident, Quarrie attempted to visit Gowan, who worked as a live-in health aide at the Jamesport residence. At that time, Gowan was reportedly involved with multiple women, and another girlfriend was present in the home when Quarrie arrived. Police reports indicate that an altercation ensued after Gowan prevented Quarrie from entering. Consequently, she left the premises, returning later that night to confront Gowan. During this subsequent encounter, a heated argument escalated, resulting in Quarrie allegedly stabbing Gowan in the neck. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter at a local hospital.

Authorities have determined that while Quarrie is originally from Jamaica, there is no indication that she has left the country. Instead, Suffolk County Police believe she may be residing in Queens, where she has familial ties and is possibly engaged in cash-based employment while operating under the radar. Quarrie is also reported to have been working as a live-in health aide, during which time she allegedly used the name of a friend’s child to cash her paychecks. In addition, she maintains a low profile, lacking a cell phone or social media presence, and is known to alter her appearance frequently using various wigs.

Gowan’s family continues to mourn his loss, with his aunt publicly expressing the profound emotional impact of the tragedy.
