Prosecutors request exhumation of ‘Human Barbie’ due to suspicions of murder.

Prosecutors in Brazil are calling for the exhumation of the body of social media influencer Barbara Jankavski, known to her followers as the “Human Barbie,” as part of an ongoing investigation into her death. Initially classified as an accidental overdose due to cocaine, recent developments have prompted authorities and Jankavski’s family to express concerns that her death could have been a homicide.

The 31-year-old influencer was found deceased on November 2 at the São Paulo residence of public defender Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto, who is 51 years old. According to a police report acquired by Media News Source, De Vitto indicated he had spent the night with Jankavski and that both had engaged in the use of recreational drugs. He reported that upon realizing her unresponsiveness, he attempted resuscitation efforts for nearly ten minutes before contacting emergency services.

Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced Jankavski dead, noting several unexplained injuries, including bruising around her left eye and additional marks on her back. The presence of these injuries has led the prosecutor’s office to reassess the circumstances surrounding her death, suggesting that they could indicate the possibility of assault or strangulation.

In light of these findings, a recent court filing has requested the involvement of a homicide investigation unit to examine the specifics of Jankavski’s death more thoroughly. The request, still awaiting judicial approval, seeks to analyze X-ray images of her neck for signs of potential asphyxiation, as well as conduct a DNA analysis of material found under her fingernails, which could provide evidence of a struggle during her final moments.

Jankavski garnered attention on various social media platforms, particularly Instagram and TikTok, where she shared her experiences with multiple cosmetic surgeries, amassing a following of over 400,000. The case has drawn significant public interest, not only due to her prominence as a digital influencer but also because of the shocking nature of the circumstances surrounding her demise.

Continued scrutiny from both legal authorities and public interest groups highlights the evolving narrative of Jankavski’s death and the implications of violence against women, particularly within the realm of social media and influencer culture. As the investigation progresses, the outcomes may have broader repercussions on accountability for individuals in positions of power and influence.
