A New Jersey actor has been indicted on serious charges, including attempted murder, in relation to an incident involving the alleged shooting of a woman during a traffic altercation. Ernest W. Heinz, aged 46, from Port Republic, faces a total of 31 charges, which encompass aggravated assault and various weapons offenses stemming from a confrontation that occurred on September 11, 2023, in Galloway Township.
According to court documents, the incident began as Maritza Arias-Galva was driving home from a grocery store and attempted to merge into another lane. Following her maneuver, Heinz allegedly blocked her and subsequently pursued her vehicle. The dispute escalated when Heinz reportedly confronted Arias-Galva near Stockton University, during which he allegedly fired a shot into her car, striking her in the face. During a pretrial detention hearing, prosecutors claimed that Heinz warned Arias-Galva, stating, “I’m going to kill you.”
Heinz, who has had minor roles in television and film, including appearances in the iconic series The Sopranos and the biographical drama J. Edgar, has not been in the spotlight for some time, with his last credited work dating back to 2014.
