Attorney Anna Estevao, representing Combs, conducted a cross-examination of Ventura following two days of compelling testimony. The defense acknowledged that the rapper had been violent but argued that the charges involving allegations of running a criminal enterprise and sex trafficking were unfounded. Some of the messages purportedly demonstrated Ventura’s enthusiasm toward these encounters, including statements indicating her eagerness to participate in the “freak-offs.” However, inconsistencies emerged in Ventura’s recollections, particularly regarding her discomfort with certain aspects of their relationship. In a 2009 correspondence, she described feelings of moral conflict and discomfort, stating that participation made her feel “a little dirty.”

The examination also covered Combs’ alleged substance abuse, contextualizing Ventura’s drug use within their relationship dynamics. Ventura confirmed that Combs had intervened during her drug use and had sought to prevent dealers from selling to her. Significant events were also highlighted, such as Combs’ near-fatal overdose in 2012, leading to hospitalization.

As the trial progressed, the emotional weight of Ventura’s testimony resonated throughout the courtroom. She shared candidly about being manipulated into participating in degrading sexual acts, expressing fear for her safety and career stability due to Combs’ threats regarding compromising footage.

Currently eight and a half months pregnant with her third child, Ventura’s appearances have drawn attention in light of the ongoing trial. Judge Arun Subramanian emphasized the need to conclude the cross-examination by a specified deadline, noting the importance of Ventura’s testimony in the case.
