Squatty Potty creator faces charges for purchasing child pornography.

The co-founder of Squatty Potty, Robert “Bobby” Edwards, aged 50, has been arrested following charges related to the receipt and possession of child sex abuse material. The federal indictment was made public on Monday, highlighting the serious allegations against Edwards. Authorities report that he has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The investigation into Edwards commenced in 2021 after an undercover agent infiltrated an online chat group known for the exchange of illicit materials involving minors. The agent was able to observe activities within this group, which included explicit videos being streamed. During this investigation, Edwards was reportedly identified as one of the participants in these exchanges.

The probe into Edwards persisted for several years, culminating in May 2025 when PayPal flagged transactions associated with him that appeared suspicious and potentially linked to the acquisition of child exploitation materials. Subsequently, authorities tracked these transactions to a man based in the United Kingdom, who has since faced legal consequences for distributing similar material through various digital platforms, including Telegram.

In November 2025, federal agents executed a search warrant at Edwards’ residence and vehicle. Their search yielded significant evidence, including multiple electronic devices that contained numerous files of child pornography. Notably, at least some of the downloaded materials were identified as having been acquired only weeks prior to the search and arrest.

Following the grand jury indictment, Edwards was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals. He is currently awaiting a detention hearing scheduled for March 2.

Robert Edwards and his mother, Judy, founded Squatty Potty in 2011 to produce a toilet stool designed to promote healthier bathroom habits. The company gained national exposure after appearing on the television program “Shark Tank” in 2014, where they secured an investment deal with entrepreneur Lori Greiner. In a notable business development, Aterian, a company specializing in home goods and appliances, acquired Squatty Potty in 2021 for a reported million.

As the legal proceedings unfold, this case raises serious questions about personal accountability and the intricate tracking of illicit online activities. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts law enforcement agencies are undertaking to combat child exploitation and the distribution of abusive materials across digital platforms.
