Staten Island man arrested for producing child pornography with a 4-year-old girl after videos were discovered on his phone.
A Staten Island man has been apprehended on charges related to child sexual exploitation, following an incident that revealed disturbing evidence on a mobile device he inadvertently passed on to a friend’s girlfriend. Jon Consiglio, 39, was taken into custody and subsequently denied bail after appearing in Brooklyn Federal Court, where serious allegations surrounding a four-year-old girl came to light during proceedings.
The prosecution alleged that Consiglio transferred his phone to the girlfriend of a friend on November 25, 2022, unaware that it contained explicit videos and photographs involving the young victim. The device was later given to her sister, who discovered two harrowing videos and a photograph depicting the child being subjected to sexual acts with an adult male. The complaint details that one video spanned over three minutes while the other exceeded four, showcasing multiple disturbing incidents.
Upon discovering this material, the sister promptly contacted law enforcement authorities. Subsequently, the FBI conducted interviews with Consiglio’s friend, the friend’s girlfriend, and her sister to unravel more about the situation. Both the friend and his girlfriend recognized the young girl in the videos, and they suggested that the male voice heard in the footage bore a striking resemblance to that of Consiglio.
Authorities continued their investigation by interviewing another associate of Consiglio, who also identified the child and recognized Consiglio’s voice from the recordings. Additionally, the individual provided access to a video filmed inside Consiglio’s home in Staten Island’s Woodrow neighborhood. Notably, the environment depicted in the disturbing videos corresponded with Consiglio’s bedroom, according to federal agents. They also observed that the tattoos visible on the man’s hands in the footage matched those of Consiglio as seen in his social media profiles.
During Wednesday’s hearing, Consiglio’s attorney, Samuel Jacobson from the Federal Defenders, did not file a bail application. Following the proceedings, he declined to comment on the case. If found guilty of enticing or coercing a minor to produce child sexual exploitation material, Consiglio faces severe penalties, including a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years, with the potential for up to 30 years in prison.
This arrest highlights the pressing issues surrounding child exploitation and the urgent need for effective measures to protect vulnerable minors.
