Suspect in murder of American Idol supervisor contacts police to report himself.

A young man has been charged in connection with the deaths of Robin Kaye, a music supervisor for “American Idol,” and her husband, Thomas Deluca, both aged 70, who were found dead earlier this month in their Encino, California, home. Authorities allege that 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian utilized the couple’s firearm to fatally shoot them before subsequently calling the police to report the incident.

Boodarian faces charges of double homicide and residential burglary following his alleged actions at the couple’s multimillion-dollar estate. According to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Boodarian contacted law enforcement through his cellphone, provided his identity, and was apprehended after officers tracked his location. The timing of his call to law enforcement is still under investigation. He was taken into custody on July 11, just one day after Kaye and Deluca were discovered deceased inside their home, which investigators believe he entered without permission.

Initial police response on July 10 was prompted by a report of a potential burglary at the residence. Upon their arrival, officers observed no immediate signs of forced entry or struggle, leading them to forgo entering the heavily fortified property. It was only after conducting a welfare check four days later that Kaye and Deluca were found. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.

In an unsettling twist, Mauro Quintero, the couple’s pool cleaner, disclosed that the home had experienced a recent break-in more than a month prior. Authorities are now investigating whether this incident may have any connection to the subsequent double homicide.

The charges against Boodarian also include one count of burglary, with the court records indicating a troubling history. Earlier in December, a judge had dismissed prior cases against him that included allegations of threats, weapons offenses, and battery tied to incidents involving his family. At that time, he had undergone a mental health evaluation and had been placed under conservatorship.

As this tragic case continues to unfold, it raises questions not only about the motives behind such violent acts but also about the implications for justice in circumstances where previous offenses had not led to more significant repercussions. The ongoing investigation will aim to clarify these and other related issues as the community seeks answers about this shocking crime.

As this story progresses, further updates are expected to develop, shedding light on the tragic circumstances surrounding the deaths of Kaye and Deluca and the charges against Boodarian.
