Suspect in subway sex attack on male victim gives outburst in court.

Media News Source reports that troubling new details have emerged regarding a violent sexual assault that took place on a Manhattan subway car, involving a suspect identified as 36-year-old Mohammad Azeem. During his arraignment, Azeem displayed erratic behavior, expressing hostility as he was escorted out of a Manhattan Criminal Court by law enforcement personnel.

Azeem is currently facing serious charges including rape and forcible touching, with Judge Kacie Lally denying him bail. The incident occurred at approximately 4:11 AM on April 26, when Azeem boarded a northbound No. 1 train from the South Ferry Terminal Station. According to the victim’s account, Azeem, who had been lying down, suddenly approached him, forced his head back, and sexually assaulted him. The criminal complaint outlines the sequence of events, highlighting Azeem’s aggressive actions, including ordering the victim to “bite it” and making an attempt to kiss him forcibly.

Investigators have obtained video evidence that reportedly shows Azeem engaging in the assault, including covering the victim’s head with his shirt while perpetrating the attack. When additional passengers boarded the train, Azeem allowed the victim to escape to another car. However, he allegedly followed, reaching into the victim’s clothing in an effort to further assault him. They both exited the train at the Christopher St. station, where the victim was finally able to evade Azeem and seek help.

Following the incident, the victim reported the assault to the train conductor, prompting medical assistance that transported him to a local hospital, where he was treated and described as being in stable condition. Law enforcement quickly released surveillance images of the suspect to the public, leading to Azeem’s arrest the same day in Crown Heights.

Azeem’s arrest comes in the context of heightened concern over safety in New York’s subway system, particularly following a separate alarming incident in which a deceased individual was discovered within the subway. This incident underscores broader discussions surrounding crime and safety in urban transit environments.

As authorities continue to investigate, Azeem remains in custody awaiting further legal proceedings. The incident has reignited discussions about public safety and the measures needed to protect commuters in the city’s transit system.
