Tampa’s Pig Jig returns, featuring a performance by a prominent country music artist.
Country music artist Megan Moroney, known for her sophomore album “Am I Okay?”, will headline the Tampa Pig Jig on October 18, an event recognized as the foremost national fundraiser for a rare kidney disease. This year’s event marks a significant milestone as it celebrates its 14th anniversary.
With over 2.7 billion global streams, Moroney has emerged as a prominent figure in the music industry, receiving accolades such as the Country Music Award and the Academy of Country Music award. She has been distinguished as an “emo cowgirl” and featured on the cover of Rolling Stone’s Future of Music issue. Recently, she garnered the Rulebreaker Award at Billboard’s Women in Music event, further underscoring her rapid rise in the entertainment sphere.
In addition to Moroney, the lineup for this year’s event includes double Grammy nominees Midland, singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson, Americana band Jamestown Revival, and promising country artist George Pippen.
Held at Julian B. Lane Park in downtown Tampa, the Tampa Pig Jig began as a modest backyard fundraiser to support a friend diagnosed with a rare kidney disease. Over the years, it has transformed into one of the most significant charitable events within the Tampa community. The festival offers a barbecue competition, various games, a silent auction, and family-friendly activities, all aimed at assisting families grappling with severe medical challenges.
Since its inception, the Tampa Pig Jig has raised over million, solidifying its role as the largest annual donor to NephCure. The funds have facilitated the launch of more than 60 clinical trials for rare kidney conditions, including Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis and Nephrotic Syndrome.
As it enters its 14th year, the hosting organization, the HopeWill Foundation, is expanding its efforts. In addition to supporting NephCure’s mission, the Pig Jig will now also provide resources for local nonprofit partners that assist individuals and families dealing with life-altering medical diagnoses. This strategic expansion aims to cultivate a mission rooted in hope, community, and care.
