Teen discovered in D4vd’s Tesla may have died weeks prior, according to police investigation.

Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 15-year-old whose remains were recently discovered in the trunk of a Tesla owned by R&B artist D4vd, likely met her demise weeks prior to the gruesome discovery, according to police reports. The remains of Rivas Hernandez were found on September 8, after employees at a Hollywood towing facility noticed a foul odor emanating from the electric vehicle. The car had been towed to the lot approximately five days earlier, as it had been reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills.

Originally reported missing in April 2024 from her family home in Lake Elsinore, California, Rivas Hernandez was only 13 years old at the time of her disappearance, which occurred approximately 76 miles from where the Tesla was found. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division has since taken over the investigation. A recent update indicated that the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet determined the cause or manner of death for the teenager, leaving the case marked as “deferred” on her death certificate, as reported by ABC News. This uncertainty raises questions about potential criminal activity, beyond simply the concealment of her remains.

Investigators from the Robbery-Homicide Division are reportedly applying diligence in examining all facets of this case in their pursuit of justice for Rivas Hernandez and her family. As efforts to uncover the truth continue, police have emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation.

In the wake of this tragic event, speculation surrounding the relationship between Rivas Hernandez and D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, has arisen in online discussions. Rivas’ mother previously noted that her daughter had a boyfriend with the name David, and the two were reported to have matching tattoos on their index fingers. LAPD Captain Scot M. Williams has indicated that it would be premature to comment on the nature of their relationship, assuring that all angles will be explored as part of the investigation.

While details remain sparse, D4vd, the 20-year-old artist originally from Queens who rose to fame through platforms like YouTube and TikTok, is said to be cooperating fully with law enforcement during this ongoing investigation. Since the discovery of Rivas Hernandez’s remains, D4vd has canceled both his U.S. and European tours, and the release of his new album has also been indefinitely postponed.

The community and authorities continue to seek answers in this heartbreaking case, prompting calls for justice as the investigation unfolds.
