Teen sustains injuries from subway surfing fall in Brooklyn.

A 14-year-old boy sustained injuries while engaging in the dangerous activity of subway surfing in Brooklyn on Thursday afternoon, according to police reports. The incident occurred around 4:12 p.m. as the teenager was riding on top of a southbound B train. The train was approaching the Avenue J stop near East 16th Street in the Midwood neighborhood when the boy fell off, landing on the roadbed below.

As the express train, which does not stop at Avenue J, continued down the track, bystanders, including an MTA employee, rushed to assist the injured boy. The transit worker reported that the teenager was found bleeding on the tracks and unresponsive when paramedics arrived. He was promptly transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was reported to be in stable condition with lacerations to his head, legs, and arms.

The swift response from the MTA employee, who was alerted to the incident by a group of school children, underscores the potential dangers present in and around subway systems. Following the most recent accident, normal train service on the southbound B and Q lines was restored by 5:25 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the MTA.
