Texas mother of missing 6-year-old arrested for murder after fleeing to India.
A Texas mother, Cindy Rodriguez Singh, has been apprehended in India after eluding authorities for nearly three years following the disappearance of her son, Noel Rodriguez-Alvarez. FBI Director Kash Patel announced her arrest on social media, marking a significant development in a case that has drawn widespread attention and concern from law enforcement and the public alike.
Singh was placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list in early October 2023. She faces allegations of having murdered her six-year-old son, Noel, who was last seen in October 2022. The young boy had a documented history of health complications, including chronic lung disease and pulmonary edema, requiring regular medical care and medications, including an albuterol inhaler.
In March 2023, Texas state officials requested a welfare check on Noel, leading to a troubling revelation. Authorities assert that Singh misled them about her son’s whereabouts, claiming he was living with his father in Mexico, a statement that was contradicted by the father, who stated he had no contact with Noel.
Following the welfare check, Singh, along with her husband, Arshdeep Singh, and their six other children, departed from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport for India. Notably, airline tickets were reportedly purchased within 24 hours of their departure, and Singh had withdrawn her children, including Noel, from school prior to leaving the country.
Local law enforcement expressed deep concern for the child’s safety. In April 2023, former Everman Police Chief Craig Spencer indicated that investigators had come to the heartbreaking conclusion that Noel was likely deceased. Subsequently, Singh was charged with capital murder in Tarrant County, Texas, on October 31, 2023. A federal warrant for her unlawful flight was issued shortly thereafter.
Details surrounding the arrest remain sparse; however, Patel extended his gratitude to law enforcement agencies in India, as well as to the FBI offices in New York and Dallas for their collaborative efforts in the case. Reports from the Times of India confirm that Singh was arrested in India on August 21, 2025, and has since returned to the United States to face prosecution.
This case underscores the complexities of child welfare and international law enforcement, as authorities continue to grapple with the legal ramifications of Singh’s actions and the tragic circumstances surrounding her son’s disappearance.
