The Buttery cafe is opening a third location in the Main Line.

The Buttery, a beloved café and bakery located in Malvern, Pennsylvania, is set to expand its reach with the opening of a third location at the Ardmore Farmers Market on October 4. This move marks a significant step for the establishment, which has gained popularity since its inception in 2015 and is now recognized for its specialty coffee and freshly baked goods.

The new 300-square-foot location at 120 Coulter Avenue will feature a similar menu to its original Malvern site, offering patrons a selection of specialty coffees, scratch-made pastries, sandwiches, and breads. Notably, the Ardmore establishment will introduce bagels to its menu for the first time, a decision that reflects the founders’ commitment to expanding their culinary offerings. Customers can expect to find a range of bagel flavors, including plain, everything, and a unique “French everything” variety infused with lavender and fennel, rather than the traditional onion and poppy seeds.

The expansion is a response to the brand’s growing customer base and increasing demand, as the original location has been described as “bursting at the seams.” Additionally, to support this growth, the company has recently inaugurated a bakehouse in Norristown, enhancing productivity and supporting future endeavors, including a planned location in Bryn Mawr that is set to open in early 2026.

John Rhoads, co-owner of The Buttery, expressed excitement about joining the Ardmore Farmers Market community, emphasizing the brand’s historical connection to farmers’ markets. The new venue is strategically positioned near Trader Joe’s and Sushi Sei, providing an ideal location for customers looking to grab a quick bite or coffee while shopping.

Throughout the opening weekend, The Buttery-Ardmore will celebrate its grand opening by offering complimentary signature sable cookies to the first 100 customers each day, ensuring a warm welcome to its new patrons.

The Buttery-Ardmore will operate Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This expansion, coupled with ongoing renovations at its Malvern flagship, positions The Buttery not only as a thriving business but also as a staple in the community, committed to growth while maintaining its core values of quality and service.

As The Buttery marks its milestone of ten years in the business, the leadership expresses a cautious optimism regarding future growth, emphasizing a focus on maintaining the quality that has made them a local favorite.
