Three men in Philadelphia arrested for allegedly stealing million in cash from a Brinks truck in Port Richmond.
Three Philadelphia men have been charged with robbery and related offenses for their alleged involvement in the theft of over million from an armored Brinks truck in Port Richmond last June, federal authorities announced on Wednesday. The central figure in this high-value heist, Trayvine Jackson, was an employee of Brinks and had previously served as the driver of the truck that he targeted. According to court documents, Jackson had been suspended shortly prior to the incident amid an investigation into his potential involvement in two earlier thefts totaling approximately ,000.
On June 21, Jackson reportedly conspired with two other individuals, Daishaun Hughes-Murchison and Brian Wallace, who are alleged to have assisted in the robbery by providing getaway vehicles. Prosecutors revealed that Wallace had rented a car from Enterprise, where he was employed, returning it just four hours after the robbery.
A subsequent investigation led authorities to obtain a search warrant for Jackson’s residence, where they discovered more than million in cash along with money bands typically used for packaging currency. Additionally, law enforcement officials found two long guns that were reportedly similar to those brandished at the Brinks driver during the armed robbery. Surveillance footage and cell phone records further connected Jackson, Hughes-Murchison, and Wallace to the crime.
Wayne Jacobs, a special agent in charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia field office, confirmed that the majority of the stolen cash had been recovered. Investigators had also identified several items, including vehicles and jewelry, that the suspects allegedly purchased with the stolen funds.
The robbery began around 8 a.m. when the Brinks truck driver stopped near a Home Depot on the 2500 block of Castor Avenue. After exiting the vehicle to perform a routine task, Jackson and an accomplice confronted him at gunpoint, forcing the driver to the ground, stealing his weapon and keys. Jackson then gained access to the armored vehicle to retrieve the cash, before escaping with his accomplice in Wallace’s rental car.
The FBI later apprehended all three suspects, with Jackson ordered to remain in custody pending trial. Detention hearings for Hughes-Murchison and Wallace are scheduled for the coming days. This incident was one of several armored truck thefts in the area over the summer; notably, only days prior, another pair of armed assailants stole 0,000 from a different Brinks truck in Elkins Park. Authorities continue to investigate potential connections between these crimes.
