Three people shot outside Brooklyn hospital following threats made to a girlfriend’s daughter, according to police reports.
Authorities have arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident that injured three bystanders outside a Brooklyn hospital. The suspect, identified as Allan Joseph, was reportedly attempting to target a group of teenagers involved in a dispute involving his girlfriend’s daughter. The incident occurred last Friday afternoon near Woodhull Hospital, where the gunfire resulted in injuries to a 33-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl.
According to reports from local law enforcement, Joseph was taken into custody on Wednesday evening after police noticed his Chevrolet Equinox parked in a no-standing zone at the intersection of Classon Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights. Upon running the vehicle’s license plate, officers discovered it had been flagged in relation to a criminal investigation. Joseph was found in the driver’s seat and possessed a revolver believed to be the firearm used in the shooting.
The victims, who were caught in the crossfire while waiting for a bus, were identified as a 33-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh, a 16-year-old boy who was hit in the left hip, and a 15-year-old girl who was grazed by a bullet in her right foot. Law enforcement officials stated that these individuals were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time during the incident.
Joseph’s involvement stemmed from a phone call made by his girlfriend’s 15-year-old daughter, who expressed concerns about a potential attack after an altercation with a male teenager at Williamsburg Charter High School earlier that day. When Joseph and his girlfriend arrived at the scene, they instigated a confrontation with the group of teenagers, including the girl who was allegedly meant to fight the daughter.
Following the confrontation, it appeared that tensions had cooled, and the family attempted to leave the area. However, as they were departing, Joseph allegedly opened fire at the group, missing his intended targets entirely. The ensuing chaos led to three innocents being caught in the gunfire.
Living in Sunset Park, Joseph has an extensive criminal history, including eight previous arrests, with two charges related to gun possession dating back to 2019 and 1993. He is facing serious charges, including attempted murder, assault, gun possession, and resisting arrest. As of Thursday night, his arraignment in criminal court was forthcoming, and further details regarding the case are expected to emerge as the investigation continues.
