Three sisters missing in Washington have been found dead following a visit with their father.
Authorities in Washington state have confirmed the tragic discovery of the bodies of three young sisters who went missing while visiting their father, suspected to be living homeless. The sisters, identified as 9-year-old Paityn Decker, 8-year-old Evelyn Decker, and 5-year-old Olivia Decker, were last seen alive on Friday during a scheduled visitation with their father, Travis Decker, according to a statement from the Wenatchee Police Department.
The situation escalated when Travis Decker failed to return the girls. In response, law enforcement issued an endangered missing persons alert on Saturday, initiating a search that spanned the Wenatchee area, including local hotels and public locations.
The girls’ mother, Whitney Decker, expressed her deep concern for their safety and well-being in a public appeal, emphasizing her hope for their safe return. She described the circumstances as unimaginable and called on the community to assist in locating her daughters.
As the search progressed, police focused their efforts near Leavenworth, specifically around Icicle and Chumstick roads, where a deputy discovered an abandoned white 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck belonging to Travis Decker near Rock Island Campground. Subsequent searches in the vicinity led to the discovery of the girls’ remains, though details surrounding their deaths have yet to be disclosed.
In light of these developments, an arrest warrant has been issued for Travis Decker, who is now facing multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree murder. Authorities believe he has been living out of his vehicle and may pose a danger to the public. Described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, Decker was last seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark shorts.
Law enforcement has urged caution, classifying Decker as armed and dangerous due to his military training. While it remains unclear whether he is currently armed, authorities strongly advise against any direct confrontation, urging anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the police immediately.
The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident, casting a somber shadow over the Wenatchee community.
