Twelve new restaurants are opening this month, featuring steak frites as the signature dish at two of them.

In July, the Philadelphia area witnessed a notable surge in new restaurant openings, defying the usual seasonal slowdown. At least a dozen new establishments have emerged, presenting a diverse range of culinary options that encompass Georgian, Mexican, modern Chinese, and upscale American cuisines. The offerings notably include breakfast and brunch spots, along with two new venues dedicated to steak frites, and a premium steakhouse making its debut at the Jersey Shore.

Among the notable newcomers is Bleigh Street on York, located at 102 S. York Rd., Hatboro. Owner Nick Cifaldi plans to launch his sandwich shop, which has relocated from Northeast Philadelphia, on Wednesday. The establishment, taking over the former Hatboro Dish, features signature items like cheesesteaks, cutlets, and smash burgers. A highlight of the menu is a unique mozzarella stick stuffed with cheesesteak, served with caramelized onion aioli and spicy ketchup.

In Atlantic City, the Ocean Casino Resort prepares to unveil two new dining concepts designed by prominent restaurateur Stephen Starr. Chez Frites and Sunny’s are set to open in late July, although reservations won’t be accepted until August. Chez Frites offers a prix fixe dinner menu featuring steak, salmon, or lobster, paired with unlimited fries. Meanwhile, Sunny’s will cater to breakfast and lunch diners with a diverse array of dishes, including pigs in a blanket and lobster rolls.

The Coastal Chop House, formerly Bright Spot Cafe, opens its doors in Sea Isle City on Friday, aiming to fill a gap for high-end steak and seafood options between Cape May and Atlantic City. Owner Tommy Brower has transformed the space into a BYOB steakhouse, featuring a range of pricing for entrées, and will include wine lockers for patrons.

Kinto, a Georgian BYOB restaurant located at 1144 Frankford Ave., is set to launch on July 10, with a menu crafted to be vegetarian and vegan-friendly. The establishment also intends to offer zero-proof cocktails to complement its culinary offerings. The Lodge by Two Robbers, operated by the Nayar brothers, will open a new tasting room in South Philadelphia on July 11, focusing on a cozy atmosphere and an extensive cocktail menu.

Other anticipated openings include Mana Modern Chinese, a BYOB restaurant in Northern Liberties offering both classic dim sum and fusion dishes, set to open on July 16. The energetic D.C.-based steak frites chain, Medium Rare, plans to debut in Fishtown in mid to late July, offering diners unlimited steak, salad, and frites for a fixed price. Additionally, the Stardust Cafe is making its transition on July 10 from the former Pop Shop, while Tlali, a Mexican restaurant in Upper Darby, aims for a late July opening.

Lastly, Toastique—a D.C.-based toast and juice bar—will launch its first Philadelphia-area location on July 19 in Newtown Square, offering promotions for the first 100 customers. Meanwhile, the Radnor Hotel is set to introduce the Triple Crown restaurant by the end of July, promising an upscale dining experience in an elegant environment.

The expansion of Philadelphia’s culinary landscape reflects a vibrant and increasingly diverse food scene, inviting diners to explore new flavors and experiences throughout the region.
