Two boys arrested for stabbing dog trainer after dispute over barking Pomeranian in Brooklyn park.
Two minors, including a 12-year-old boy, have been arrested following a violent incident that resulted in the stabbing of a 41-year-old dog trainer in Brooklyn. The incident occurred during an argument regarding a barking Pomeranian at Maria Hernandez Park on Tuesday evening, according to reports from police. The younger suspect faces charges for assault, while a 15-year-old has been charged with assault, menacing, and weapon possession.
The violent confrontation reportedly began around 7:30 p.m. as the dog trainer was assisting another dog owner in the park. A group of teenagers began antagonizing the Pomeranian’s owner, escalating the situation. Witnesses reported that one of the assailants claimed to be allergic to dogs, which intensified the interaction between the dog trainer and the group.
According to a witness, the dog trainer confronted the youths, challenging their behavior and expressing stern disapproval. During the altercation, it was alleged that one of the younger individuals in the group brandished a three-inch knife. The witness recounted that the confrontation lasted between ten to fifteen minutes before the situation deteriorated further, resulting in the dog trainer being stabbed in the armpit and abdomen.
The immediate aftermath of the incident was chaotic. Following the stabbing, the victim was observed bleeding profusely, and efforts were made to provide him with first aid until emergency services arrived. The victim was subsequently transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition the following day.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that two of the suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident, while efforts continue to locate a third individual involved. An imitation firearm was retrieved from the young suspects, though the knife used in the attack remains unaccounted for.
Witnesses have expressed concerns about the prevalence of bullying and aggressive behavior by local youths in the park, emphasizing that this incident is not an isolated occurrence. The community is grappling with fears that the juveniles may receive lenient sentences, allowing them to return to their previous behavior shortly. The incident has sparked discussions about youth violence in urban environments and the challenges of addressing such behavior among minors.
