Two Queens individuals charged in .8 million bank account theft linked to missing Long Island couple, federal authorities report.

A man and woman from Queens have been accused of embezzling over .8 million from a bank account believed to be associated with a wealthy Long Island couple who mysteriously disappeared more than five months ago. Federal authorities in Long Island have charged Yinye Wang, 36, and Quiju Wu, 55, in connection with the alleged theft, which raises questions about the couple’s disappearance.

The missing individuals, identified as JuanJuan Zwang and her husband Peishuan Fan, were reported missing on March 31 by the Nassau County Police Department. According to reports, the couple vanished shortly after having dinner with their sons at their .8 million residence in Old Brookville, Long Island. Although the victims have not been explicitly named in the federal complaint, the timing and circumstances of their disappearance strongly suggest a connection to Wang and Wu.

The criminal complaint details how, beginning on June 29, one of the missing couple’s names was added to Wu’s bank account. This account was subsequently changed from an “individual owner” status to a “joint account with rights of survivorship.” Following these changes, a series of withdrawals and transfers began, with Wu allegedly siphoning a total of .8 million by July 10.

In support of the accusations, federal prosecutors have presented surveillance footage showing Wu making multiple bank transactions, with Wang present in the background during at least one of these instances. The methodical nature of the transactions has raised alarms within the financial community and led to an extensive investigation into the pair.

Wang, also known by the alias “Roy Wang,” has a history of involvement in identity theft. In December 2023, he was detained at a checkpoint at Los Angeles International Airport, where Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials uncovered an array of identification cards, credit cards, and financial documents registered under numerous names. Specifically, Wang possessed 17 credit cards linked to 12 different identities, along with various driver’s licenses and bank statements.

Wang, who has residences in College Point, Queens, and Roslyn, Long Island, was arrested in California on a Thursday and has since been released on bond. Meanwhile, Wu, a resident of Flushing, was apprehended in Texas and is currently held on an immigration detainer.

While the Nassau County Police continue their investigation into the couple’s disappearance, the case has attracted considerable attention due to the severity of the theft and its potential ties to the ongoing mystery surrounding Zwang and Fan. It is a developing story that underscores the complexities of financial crime and identity theft in contemporary society.
