United Club Lounge at Philadelphia airport reopens following health department’s reinspection.
The United Club Lounge at Philadelphia International Airport has reopened following a reinspection by the city’s health department, the airline confirmed. This members-only lounge, located in Terminal C, was temporarily closed last week after health inspectors identified several concerns, including a fly infestation in the men’s restroom and near the bar area, as noted in a report from September 29. This inspection was part of a follow-up to an unsatisfactory evaluation conducted in July.
As a result of the violations, the lounge was ordered to cease operations for a minimum of 48 hours. During this shutdown, the establishment was tasked with addressing the identified issues, paying associated fees, and successfully passing a reinspection before it could reopen to the public.
The reinspection took place on Monday, one week after the initial closure. According to the latest reports from the health department, the lounge encountered a few minor violations primarily related to equipment but notably did not report any fly issues. Inspectors confirmed that the Cease Operations Order was lifted, allowing the lounge to resume service based on the results of the recent inspection. They also indicated that a follow-up reinspection to evaluate ongoing compliance would be necessary at a later date.
During the week of closure, members of the United Club who could not access the lounge were compensated with a voucher redeemable at the airport. The lounge typically provides complimentary food and beverages to its members, in addition to other amenities. Membership options begin at 0 or 94,000 frequent flyer miles, while one-day passes are available for per individual.
The reopening of the United Club Lounge is significant for travelers seeking a comfortable environment within the busy airport. As airport lounges become increasingly sought after for their amenities and convenience, ensuring health and safety compliance remains a top priority for management and customers alike.
